Green Apple Sangria

Friday, February 5th, 2010

Exactly what it says in the title…I decided to make Green Apple Sangria after getting the idea from a friend. I can’t really have normal sangria, since it is made with red wine and that is incredibly acidic for my stomach. So I made my own variation of it.

1/5 Green Apple Vodka
3/5 White Wine
1/5 Apple Juice

I used apple peel to make my wine glass look really fabulous, whilst chucking the rest of the apple (minus the core) into the mixture. Stir it gently before serving.

You can try different quantities of each ingredient, I found one that worked for me, but it is mostly trial and error until you find the perfect taste for you.

Remember guys, be responsible, and don’t overdo it. Enjoy.

Student Mulled Cider

Thursday, December 24th, 2009

I made an awesome mulled cider the other day, it was nice, cheap and made from ingredients that you may have in your house – or at least this is what I found in my pantry.

What You’ll Need

  • Scrumpy Cider
  • Orange Cordial
  • Lemon and Ginger Teabag
  • Cloves
  • Allspice
  • Brown Sugar
  • Honey

How To Make

Pour the scrumpy into a large pan and heat on a medium setting, stirring as you add in each ingredient, without letting it boil. Add in a tablespoon of brown sugar and a teaspoon of allspice; stir until all remnants have merged with the cider. Then put in a splash of cordial, the teabag (you can use two if you want a stronger ginger flavour), a generous tablespoon of honey and 6 cloves.

Once all the ingredients are in, keep stirring until it is the right temperature (I usually make it a bit hotter than I’d like, as it will cool once you get it out of the pan). Then serve in an already warmed glass or mug and enjoy.

For a more boozy mulled cider you can add in any additional spirits like spiced rum or whisky at any time, however I like it just as much without.
